Emanuel School students bring Scones, SuperJam, and Smiles to the elderly – August 2013 | Kids Giving Back

IMG_8717

Year 6 at the Emanuel School recently participated in our Scones for Good: SuperJam Tea Party, baking several hundred melt-in-your-mouth scones at Our Big Kitchen and sharing them with the elderly at Mirrabooka Retirement Village, Bondi Waters and Holdsworth Community. Thanks SuperJam for once again providing us with your amazing jams.

We received this email from Emanuel’s Deputy Head:

“I have 60 buzzing students and 3 uplifted teachers. Thank you so much for what sounds like an incredible experience. It seems so fitting that we call this day ‘Privilege Day’. We have always made it that Year 6 students aim towards receiving the privilege of being involved in a fun day at the end of each term. From all accounts, it seems that it was truly a privilege to be involved with the activities today. Thank you so much for making it all happen!”

And from Joanne Flanagan, Benevolent Society: IMG_8716

“It really was lovely to see the connections being made between the kids and the residents (at Mirrabooka Village), I felt there was a great vibe in the air and it was lovely to see so many happy people in the room. The kids did a wonderful job engaging with the residents, and the activity sheet was a great idea as this was a good way to start a conversation and for the kids to show their interest……they were really beautiful kids and it was nice to share in that experience.”

Well done Emanuel Year 6 students – your smiles and scones made a huge difference to the day (and week!) of lots of elderly people.IMG_0918
