Huge congratulations to champions Kimberley, Simon and Max who blitzed it at the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games. Kimberley won gold for 50 butterfly, Silver for 50 freestyle and Bronze for 4/50 freestyle relay for her division.
Max and Simon took home a bronze playing in the men’s C grade basketball. 2,500 athletes from 30 countries participated in the Games, and Newcastle was jumping.
When Kids Giving Back recently introduced these 3 inspiring young Special Olympics athletes to SCEGGS Year 10 students, Kimberley, Simon and Max were about to head off to compete in the Games. Simon spoke about how much Special Olympics means to them all, and described some of their sporting achievements to the girls.
Debra Cush (Kimberley’s mum) from Special Olympics Sydney East shared their Athlete’s Oath, and as she emphasised, it’s one we can all live by: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, Let me be brave in the attempt”. Kimberley, Simon and Max – we are so proud and so happy for you.
