Turning awareness to action during Homelessness Week | Kids Giving Back

Thank you to the amazing kids and parents who gave up their Sunday morning to make, package and deliver over 500 meals at Cook4Good. Your hard work is really appreciated and making a positive difference in the life of people living on the streets or doing it tough in other ways. It was great to hear so many insightful contributions to the group conversation we had and observe how your perceptions of people who are homeless transformed throughout the day.

This week August 6-12 is Homelessness Week, an annual week coordinated by Homelessness Australia to raise awareness of people experiencing homelessness, the issues they face and the action needed to achieve enduring solutions.
• Homelessness rose in Australia by 14% in 5 years
• 200,000 people are waiting for social housing
• Despite that, there has been no increase in federal funding for housing & homelessness.

Generous kids who volunteered at Cook4Good came from schools across Sydney: Mount Sinai College Community Moriah College @mosmanpreparatoryschool, Queenwood School Sceggs Newington College-Wyvern House, Inner Sydney Montessori School, Abbotsleigh, Barker College # Mosman Church of England Preparatory School; Gymeabay Primary School, Glenmore Road Public School, Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview
