Kids and parents participating in Cook for Good always deliver meals to The Wayside Chapel in Kings Cross. Under the banner of Love over Hate, Wayside’s programs and services are designed to ensure that the most marginalised members of our community have access to essential health, welfare, social and recreational services, as well as offering a place where people are welcome just to ‘be’.
Simon Henry, Wayside’s cafe coordinator writes:
“Wayside’s visitors are extremely grateful for the meals that are provided through Kids Giving Back’s Cook for Good volunteering program. There is always a buzz of excitement as the young families walk through the doors, and a real sense of appreciation amongst our community.
The food not only fills empty bellies with tasty food but also brings hope to the community that they are not alone, not forgotten and is a real indication that they are cared about. The presence & contribution from our young people in this process is nothing but uplifting and transformational. Thank you to these Kids Giving Back programs as well as to Our Big Kitchen where the kids cook up the meals for what you do to make a difference in the lives of the people who live amongst you.”
