Want to keep your child busy during the school holidays with interesting activities that are also fun and meaningful?

Our school holiday programs are the perfect chance to introduce your child to the world of volunteering – and empower them to give back in an age-appropriate way.

Helping Hands – Woolloomooloo

For kids aged 8-14

Join us for a meaningful cooking holiday experience! Your child will cook meals and pack essential care packs for people experiencing homelessness and tough times.

Kids will learn about the causes and impacts of homelessness – and how their community supports those most vulnerable.

Cost:

$100 per child

Location:

Dates:

29 & 30 September, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9 October

9:00am – 3:00pm

What to bring:

Nut-free lunch, morning and afternoon tea, and a drink

What else you need to know:
  • Your child must wear closed toe, rubber soled shoes for safety (as knives are used to prepare meals).
  • This is a drop-off session (parents do not participate).
  • Each program may be slightly different, as we structure sessions around our charity partners’ needs.

Helping Hands – Northern Beaches

For kids aged 8-14

Take part in a rewarding holiday cooking experience where kids roll up their sleeves to prepare meals and pack essential care packs for individuals facing hardship and homelessness.

Children will also gain insight into the challenges of homelessness and discover how their community steps in to help those in need.

Cost:

$100 per child

Week 1: 28 & 29 September
Manly Youth & Community Centre. Kangaroo Street

Week 2: 6 & 7 October
Seaforth Village Community Centre.550 Sydney Rd

Time:

9:30pm – 2:30pm

Little Helpers – Woolloomooloo

For kids aged 5-7 years (every child needs to be accompanied by an adult)

You and your child will help prepare easy meals for those experiencing homelessness and tough times. All meals will be given to our charity partners, who will then distribute to their clients.

A great introduction to our community Cook4Good program, this session is designed for parents and children to work together.

$50 per child (free for adults)

  • An adult must accompany your child – with a maximum of 1 adult per 3 children.

Helping Hands – Parramatta

For kids aged 8-14

Join us for a fun filled day supporting vulnerable communities as we make meals, bake yummy treats and pack essential care packs. We look forward to hosting you in Parramatta as we cater to the requests of the Salvation Army community!

Kids are sure to feel proud of what they’ve achieved throughout the day.

$100 per child

Salvation Army Community Centre – Level 1/426 Church Street, North Parramatta

1, 2, 8 & 9 October
